Common Footer

Overview

The footer is the section at the very bottom of a webpage that intentionally repeats certain items from the header to improve usability and give visitors quick access to essential links at both the top and bottom of the page. It also adds supplementary information and links not shown in the header.

How to Access

When logged in as a site admin, go to Appearance -> Settings -> Syracuse Default.

Scroll down the page and open the Footer Settings accordion.

In the footer, some elements are universal across all Syracuse University-owned websites, while others can be customized. The image to the right outlines which elements can be changed, including contact information and social media links.

If you do not use or need a particular social media icon, leave the field blank.

Secondary accreditation will only be required for certain schools that have additional requirements from their accreditation agencies. If additional accreditation is not needed, leave this field blank.

Consumer Information is included in the footer links by default and points to the Syracuse University Information page. If your site is required to provide its own consumer information, use the supplied fields to change the text and URL as needed. Please make sure to provide a link to the University Information page on your local page.

There is also an area for additional sub-footer text, which appears at the very bottom of the footer. This can be used for additional disclaimers or the University motto. This space does not allow HTML, so it cannot be used to create additional links.
